  • CMLS Financial continues its leadership in the CMBS sector

     CMLS Financial, one of Canada's largest, independently owned mortgage services companies, successfully closed its fourth Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) transaction since 2012, contributing 24 commercial mortgage loans totaling $182.3 million to the CMLS Issuer Corp., Series 2014-1 transaction. The transaction, a $283.7 million CMBS pool consisting of 37 commercial mortgage loans secured by a diversified portfolio of 41 properties, was the third CMBS transaction of 2014 and the first issued under the CMLS Issuer Corp. banner.

  • Vinci adds value to its parking properties

     “A lot of people say ‘parking is parking’,” smiled Adamo Donatucci. “All that matters is that the cars come in. Cars come out. You collect the money.”

    Vinci Park’s general manager thinks that approach is short-sighted.
    “That’s really an unambitous approach to the business,” he told the Square Foot.
    Vinci, which took over management of the Toronto airport’s parking facilities, May 1, prefers the enterprising approach.
     
    “Right off the bat, we introduced some marketing,” Donatucci recalled. “We asked ourselves ‘What can we do with branding?’”

     Copper has been shown to have antimicrobial properties and significantly reduce dangerous germs such as bacteria, fungi and viruses.   • SEB Asset Management sells majority interest in US retail portfolio to Kimco Realty Corp.

     The listed US company, a specialist in retail centres that already held a 15 per cent interest in the portfolio, has acquired the remaining 85 per cent for around USD 234.4 million (approximately EUR 147 million), including existing real estate loans. After a holding period of seven years, the sale allows SEB Asset Management to take advantage of a unique sales opportunity for its SEB Global Property Fund.
