Eastlink chooses Nova Scotia for 2nd Data Centre

Halifax, NS - Building on its successful Data Centre operations in Bermuda, Eastlink announced that the company will operate a second location based in Sambro, NS (otherwise known as the Pennant Point Data Centre).
"We have been operating this line of business successfully in Bermuda for several years serving the Government of Bermuda and multinational finance and insurance companies," said Lee Bragg, Eastlink CEO. "Our Canadian business customers have told us that they are looking for comparable services and this new location enables us to deliver on that."
As business and public sector organizations generate ever-increasing quantities of mission-critical data, the protection and security of this information is, in turn, driving demand for Data Centre capacity.
"We chose Nova Scotia for this significant investment," continued Mr. Bragg. "We've already invested almost $3M in Phase 1 and intend to continue to invest in the capabilities of this location, making it a world-class data centre for local clients as well as national and international customers."
Eastlink has managed critical voice, data, and Internet services for businesses of all types and sizes, as well as for public sector clients in hospitals, police, education and government for many years.
"We've always taken a proactive approach to managing and monitoring our network and risk factors. That will allow us to manage client information so that our clients can focus on what's most important to them, which is managing their business," said Mr. Bragg.
Currently, operational and serving Atlantic Canadian customers already, Eastlink's Pennant Point Data Centre:
delivers exceptional network connectivity, accessibility, reliability, and security
is carrier neutral
provides high levels of site and building security that is monitored and alarmed 24/7/365
houses servers in a secure, controlled, and professionally managed environment
delivers fully redundant, uninterruptable power and cooling (fault tolerance systems)
"In many cases, smaller local and regional companies can't always afford the upgrades required to have an on-site data centre so Pennant Point can provide them with main Data Centre space," explains Mr. Bragg. "For larger business and government clients, this Centre provides them with the site diversity they require giving them higher levels of redundancy."
